Felicitas is a chamber choir performing choral concerts in Essex and in NE and Central London. Directed by Simon Winters, the choir specialises in a cappella choral music and has a wide repertoire ranging from the medieval to the modern day, both sacred and secular. Felicitas prides itself on its high musical standard as well as the excellent rapport amongst members.

Our December concert will feature choruses from Handel's Messiah, a traditional pre-Christmas favourite, together with motets by Bruckner (whose 200th anniversary we commemorate this year) and pieces celebrating the Christmas season by contemporary composers.

What sweeter music

In this lighter programme for our summer concert, music will feature sacred and secular works including Britten's Five Flower Songs, Rutter's Five Childhood lyrics and William Harris' setting of Faire is the heaven.

Programme also to include sacred and secular works by Purcell, Byrd, Harris and Percy Grainger as well as some madrigals and partsongs.

Felicitas carol broadcast

Our recording of Gabriel's Message by Jonathan Rathbone will be broadcast by Classic FM on Tuesday 17th December 2024 at around 6pm. We are delighted that this has been chosen by the Classic FM Christmas Carol Competition as one of 5 for broadcast. Click here to hear our recording.


Felicitas Christmas Charity collection

The charity Felicitas has chosen to support this year is Redbridge Foodbank's Warehouse Renovation Project. The audience at our December 7th concert and the choir have together raised £715, which will be doubled to £1430 by the Big Give initiative. Thank you so much to all who donated.


Felicitas is recruiting

Felicitas has a vacancy for a tenor due to the departure of one of its members. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at St Mary's Church, South Woodford, E18 (very near to the Central line) and gives three concerts each year, as well as undertaking the occasional tour, festival and CD recording. Those interested would be invited to attend a rehearsal and an audition with the choir's director, Simon Winters.
